Rigid Spindle Interfaces & Minimal Runout
In high-speed CNC milling, tool holder runout can quickly ruin expensive carbide end mills and lead to poor surface finishes. KTA tool holders are manufactured from premium alloy steels, case-hardened to HRC 56-60, and precision-ground to maintain a Total Indicator Runout (TIR) of less than 5 microns (0.005mm) at the collet nose. This exceptional accuracy ensures uniform chip load on all tool flutes, leading to predictable tool wear and higher surface finish quality.
KTA's BT, HSK, and ISO taper holders are dynamically balanced to G2.5 at 15,000 RPM (with select options balanced up to 25,000 RPM). This high-speed balance is critical for preventing centrifugal vibrations that can damage spindle bearings and cause dimensional drift on machined parts.
KTA Spindle Catalog Options
- ER Collet Chucks (BT40, HSK63A): Standard collet chucks offering reliable clamping and low runout. Available in standard, slim, and long reach designs.
- Side Lock Holders (Weldon Shank): Heavy-duty holders designed for high-torque roughing operations where tool pull-out must be completely prevented.
- Shrink Fit Tool Holders: Thermal clamping systems that offer absolute concentricity and high gripping force for high-speed micro-milling.
- Pull Studs & Retention Knobs: Precision-ground retention knobs matching various machine drawbar specifications (MAS 403, DIN 69872).
